Prime Minister John Key looked like a ridiculous schoolboy in Parliament today when withdrawing an incorrect statement he made in regards to his knowledge over the SkyCity convention centre deal, says New Zealand First.

Rt Hon Winston Peters says Mr Key bumbled and stumbled his way through what was his third apology to Parliament in the past 12 months.

“First he had to correct a statement involving his knowledge of the Dotcom gag order.

“Then he had to admit that he was told about Dotcom by the Government Communications Security Bureau when he said he hadn’t been.

“The latest blunder saw the Prime Minister reveal ‘knowledge’ of the SkyCity convention centre deal that was factually incorrect.”

Mr Peters says the Prime Minister should adhere to an old sporting adage.

“Three strikes and you’re out is what readily comes to mind.”

Mr Peters is also urging Mr Key to have his memory checked by medical professionals.

“One minute he makes statements to Parliament which prove to be false, the next he has brain fade and can’t remember a thing.

“New Zealand First truly holds concern for his wellbeing.”
